Laptop is a word that we now more often associate with computers. However, before the emergence of technology, notebooks were just paper recording tools, artists' inspiration sources, scientists' research records, summary and capture the wonderful archives of life. Its history is profound, and its changes are closely linked to the evolution of human history, technology, art and lifestyle.
In 2000 BC, the ancient Egyptians made an early "notebook". They rolled up a long piece of papyrus to make a scroll, and then drew and wrote on it to record various information. This is the originator of the first "paper notebook".
By the Middle Ages, monasteries across Europe were producing manuscripts, often religious or scholarly texts. At this time, the cover was usually wooden or leather, and the pocket-sized version was called a "pocket book", one of the early notebook forms.
At the end of the 19th century, it entered the period of large-scale industrial production, and notebooks began to be mass-produced. Manufacturers such as Molskine provide artists, writers and journalists with notebooks in a variety of sizes and formats to meet different needs.
Then in the 1980s, technology merged with the notebook, and the electronic notebook was born. In this period, our "notebook" broke through the material limits and more possibilities emerged.
Therefore, the history of "notebook" is not only a process of technological development, but also a process of cultural evolution. While definitions and forms change constantly, its fundamental mission, which is to record and disseminate knowledge, never changes.
